Renowned record producer, Tony Visconti, has signed on to record, produce, and mix the highly anticipated second album from psychedelic rock trio, Capsula. Solar Secrets, the follow up to the acclaimed In The Land of Silver Souls, is set for release on Krian Music Group in late spring/early summer of 2013. Visconti’s prowess at the board will mix seamlessly with Capsula’s wild, energetic, and psychedelic garage rock rawness. Extremely vocal in regards to their unwavering appreciation and admiration for David Bowie and his music catalogue, Capsula are thrilled for the chance to work with Visconti, and the feeling is mutual. ”Capsula is a serious rock trio, possessed of great musicianship with songs destined to be evergreens,” remarked Tony Visconti. “I can’t wait until our studio odyssey begins.”
Capsula will record under the direction of Visconti at Lexington’s Saint Claire Recording Studio in the heart of Kentucky. With Visconti at the helm, Capsula will experiment with a variety of sonic influences ranging from South American garage rock and West Coast psychedelics to Latin rhythms. Fans will recognize the trio’s signature sound of blazing rock n’ roll riffs, heart pounding drumbeats, and catchy vocal melodies.
Thanks Austin! That was a blast. See you so soon!
Capsula’s set was a revelation. Bassist and sometimes singer Coni Duchess has fire in her soul and a throaty yowl that rips the meat from the bone. Guitarist and lead singer Martin Guevera has a quality only certain rockers can pull off – he wears red pants aggressively and backs up his swagger with torching, hellbent playing and off-kilter, crazy, outright beautiful vocals. He’s got a Jack White thing going on that predates Jack White. No could take note: these guys aren’t even native English speakers and base their writing on the Surrealist cut-up technique favored by writers such as Willam Burroughs yet deliver more meaning per-vowel than most American bands. Whether intoning “constellation” over and over on a song by that name or screaming “Kill the candle!” somehow they make it all make sense – because they mean it, whatever the hell it is they are saying. Perhaps the finest distillation of pure garage rock at SXSW 2013, Argentine-Spanish trio Capsula crashed into the Whiskey Room with Ignacio Villarejo’s drumming overtaking even the thrashing guitar. While they sing in English, their halting command of it does limit the banter, although the audience was told that “this is a special dance that will be invented in fifty years.” They’ve been doing it since the nineties and not a single song is over three minutes. Capsula is what you might listen to if, say, you suddenly need to drive from New York to L.A. in a huge rush LINK
Migrating down Sixth Street, Capsula, a wild trio from Argentina, are making lots of noise at The Whiskey Room. Guitarist Martin Guevara finishes the set by generating feedback from everything he can: the mikes, the wiring, the audience and anything he can find while walking through the crowd. David Fricke was enamored with these guys a couple years back and that man rarely steers anyone wrong. LINK
No sooner had this quicksilver Spanish trio exited last year's SXSW with its propulsive VU/Raveonettes/BRMC rave-up In the Land of Silver Souls, than the Bilbao-headquartered Argentines set about prepping their full-length tribute, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. Now comes word their next LP will be helmed by Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti. Arachnid rock: Martin Guevara, Coni Duchess, and Alberto Diez. – Raoul Hernandez LINK
On after Pyyramids was Argentine band Capsula... They played big, riffy psych rock. While Pyyramids exuded slinky cool, Capsula grabbed your attention by the scruff of the neck. LINK
